Music - Pop
Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie - Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie doesn't set out to re-create Jagged Little Pill in sound or attitude. Some of Ms. Morissette's new songs, like the single "Thank U," have clear-cut choruses; some don't. The tone is different, too. Much of Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie is about reconciliation: with parents, with lovers, with the fears and weaknesses that Ms. Morissette saw in herself.
Surfacing - Sarah McGlachlan - No other singer in the 90's exemplifies poetry and music like Sarah Mcglachlan. She has reached a new platau of excellence in "Surfacing." Her deep songs of emotion and pain mixed with her superior lyrical genius makes for a very beautiful album. Songs like "Witness" & "Angel" help put Sarah at the top of music world of female singers
Human Being - A testimony to your mainstay for staying one step ahead of "mainstream" music. The music in this repitoire has the ability to hit your emotions dead on. Seal is the strongest voice amongst several Nineties soul artists; the only question that remains is, why haven't more modern black artists acknowledged him?
The Mask And Mirror - Loreena McKennitt - It opens the mind and sooths the soul. It's been ages since I've heard anything that hit so strong a chord. The middle eastern influence is, at once, refreshing and stirring. Her best work to date. It adds flavor to music like spice to food particularly the variety of sounds which are real ear pleasers. It's an intriguing piece of music.
Let's Talk About Love
- This album is wonderful. Every song Celine sings is beautiful and when she sings duets, it even gets better. Celine blasts incredible "Us" and the extravagent title track. Records like this show exactly why Celine is such a superstar
Definitely Maybe - Oasis
- If you want to get your adrenaline pumping, if you want to philosophize about life wihout being corny and pretentious, if you want to celebrate life instead of whining to 'complaint-rock', if you just want to glory in your being great, and lastly if you have a working brain, you'll love this album....
Talking Book (2 CDs) - Stevie Wonder
- Talking Book is another great Stevie Album which is highlighted with such great songs as the classic "You Are The Sunshine Of My Life", and also the very popular "Superstition"....ambitious, richly-textured...Even at its dreamiest, the music has a glowing vibrancy...Altogether, an exceptional, exciting album, the work of a now quite matured genius..
Living out Loud Anthology: The Best Of The Temptations (2 CDs)
- This collection has all the great Temps hits that you remember, plus, unless you're a real die-hard fan, about 20 more than you really want, including a couple of sappy renditions of straight songs. It's too comprehensive for all except serious fans. But the price & availability are terrific, after all, it IS the Temps
Stunt - Barenaked Ladies
- It was very cool. It didn't try to get a political message across, and it didn't insult people who are different. It is just really good music that is not too hard rock and not too Backstreet Boys, there are awesome songs like ONE WEEK and WHO NEEDS SLEEP? if you are a fan of the barnaked ladies you'll love this CD!
Living out Loud Savage Garden - Largely ignored by the serious music press, Savage Garden have cultivated a vast fan base on the strength of their music--and airplay--alone. As formulaic as it may appear, the ballad "Truly Madly Deeply" was lodged at No. 1 for week after week for a reason--it's damn catchy and a welcome reprieve from overdone rock ballads
