So What's a Content Manager
A Content Manager is not a webmaster. The closest equivalent to a Content Manager is a Managing Editor of a magazine or newspaper. He/she is responsible for coordinating and editing the content that will appear on the web site.
The Content Manager works with Sales, Tech. staffs, Management, Marketing, Controller, Webmaster, Programmer & Graphic Designer. He/she co-ordinates common objectives, schedules, filters technical materials, proofread, supervise, edit and update contents on the web site on an on-going and timely basis.
Since this is a new and emerging field, finding a self-professed Content Manager is not easy. For most companies this is a full-time position or department. You may train qualified employees, Often, an employee is assigned the job. The logical reason is that an employee is more informed with the company's products, services and objectives. They may handle confidential or sensitive materials, working closely with other employees and in a position to make quicker decisions.
However, employee turn-overs have been an issue of concern, especially if they go to your competitors.
