Just 40 years ago, TV advertising was consider New Media; and just 15 years ago Cable TV was in the same position. During their respective early days, each of these "new media" had to prove their value to earn a spot on the media plan the same position the Internet finds itself in today?.
A 30 second advertising spot on last year's "Super Bowl" with a major network commanded a fee of over a million dollars US. However, traditional network TV's audience is erosing rapidly in gerenal, it is also fragmented with the availability of 100's of cable and satelite channels and the traditional networks such as NBC, ABC, CBS, and FOX.
But most of all, people are joining by the millions to the internet yearly to this new media called The World Wide Web, also known as the www, or The Web.
A number of US companies reported their findings indicating a distinct shift in media habits. Over 40% of the people surveyed spent time on the Web at the expense of watching less television and other recreations such as movie-going or video renting.
Most of these people are of the higher or middle income demographics and younger folks such as children and university students (future decision makers). By gender, nearly half (48%) of the internet users are Female, up significantly from just a year ago. Even older folks are using emails and internet phones to stay in-touch with distant loved-ones.
This new media is becoming a Marketer's Dream come-true.

The Internet is enjoying the spotlight. Like a major trade show in your industry, you may not get millions of leads or make thousands of sales right away, but your company will be conspicuous by its absence.

With its multimedia capabilities such as sound, video, color presentations, on-line forms and Secured Transactions. The Web has captured the imagination of computer users everywhere. And recently, with the very affordable newer and faster computers and on-line services, Corporate Marketers and Entrepreneurs are jumping on board by the millions.
